VBS 2011 recap

Categories: Outreach

God blessed in a mighty way at Vacation Bible School 2011 as we Revved It Up and went Full Throttle for God! We were able to see at least 126 different children from ages 4-12 participate throughout the exciting week with a high day of 110 children! Praise the Lord for at least 5 children who trusted Jesus as their Saviour as a result of the VBS! VBS was an exciting time of snacks, songs, games, crafts, prizes, and Bible stories! We want to thank all the parents, children, and especially the workers who made the VBS a success! We can’t wait to see what God has in store for Vacation Bible School next year!

Outreach Conference Recap

Categories: Missions

We just concluded our annual Faith/Promise Outreach/Missions Conference here at DGBC. What a tremendous blessing it was to our local church family. This special time is a highlight each year, and has been so throughout the history of DGBC. However, from all observations, this conference was the best one thus far. I’m reminded of the song that says, “If it keeps getting better and better Oh Lord, I just don’t know what I’m gonna’ do!” But our God is certainly gracious to keep sending to us His choicest servants to represent our local church as supported Missionaries around the world.

This year we had the great privilege of being challenged by the ministry of US church planter, Adam Zamora, who has planted a new church in Buckeye, AZ. We have had the joy of supporting his ministry for more than 2 years, and God has greatly blessed. The message that he challenged us with was extremely timely and important.

We also were privileged to have 3 other Missionary families with us from 3 fields where we have not had representation.

The Anson Van de Kemp family are going to the Mediterranean island of Malta. What a difficult and needy place. Bro. Van de Kemp challenged us with a tremendous message and their presentation gave us great insight into the field of Malta and the needs there.

The Arnold Belasco family are going to Spain. Again, the presentation of their vision and burden transferred that need to the hearts of our people. Bro. Belasco also presented a great Bible message to us, and our hearts were challenged.

And then there was Bro. Elmer Deal. What can we say about this dear brother. Over 53 years of Missionary service to the Congo. 158 churches planted. Bible Colleges, medical clinics, Christian schools established. And at 85 years of age, still going strong and returning to the field on November 15, Lord willing. Our church had the great privilege of presenting Bro. Elmer with our “Heart for the World” award on Saturday evening. And my how our hearts were touched and blessed as he spoke to us that evening, Sunday morning combined Sunday School and the closing service on Sunday evening.

Our church voted unanimously to support all of these ministries and welcome these dear folks into our Missionary family.
